Impact Of Second World War By: Alisha Human beings solve problems in different ways. Sometimes when the problem cannot be solved, they start the war. Many times the war involves many countries, such as Second World War. The Second World War began on Sep 1st 1939 and ended on Sep 2nd 1945. There were 61 countries and more than 100 million soldiers’ participating in it. This war also used nuclear weapons. It was estimated over 70 million deaths, and making it the deadliest conflict in human history. Second World War has great impact on the global word in many aspects, such as socially, economically and environmentally. First of all, the Second World War has great socially impact on our previous and current generation. Due to the fact of huge number of deaths, most countries encouraged citizen to increase birth rates. People were having large families and being able to support them. As result, there was a large population growth in the world. For example, approximately 77 million American was born during this period. (AudraT, 2009) However, now that baby boomers became older and requires extended health care. Baby boomers comprise nearly 27% of the US population as of today. Since baby boomers represent a large percentage of our society, therefore, our society’s resources and services are focused on them. (O'Rand, 2005) The Second World War also affected our society economically (AudraT, 2009). After the war, most countries encountered heavy losses in agricultural, industrial and especially economical. The government had to spend lots of money to rebuild their industrial and infrastructure. On the other hand, after the war, the society appeared economically unbalanced between light and heavy manufacture (O'Rand, 2005). For example, because of the war, people did not pay attention to light manufacture such as the textile industry, people just wore very simple cloths. Soldiers needed more vehicles, battleships, airplanes, and weapons; this caused increased production in military manufacture and the heavy industry developed quickly. Therefore, when the war ended, light and heavy industry became unbalanced and that causes a serious trouble for our society. Finally, the most unforgettable and most significant world war two event was the atomic bomb attack at Hiroshima, Japan (Geogr, 2004). On August 6, 1945, President Truman of United States gave order to drop the first atomic bomb named “Little Boy” at Japanese city Hiroshima (century-of-flight, 2010). Hiroshima was chosen as the target because it is a small city, so it is easier to evaluate the effect of atomic bomb after the explosion. At the time of explosion, people within diameter of 500 meters were instantly vaporized, and around 80,000 people was killed instantly, total casualty was around 135000 people (century-of-flight, 2010). Buildings within 2 kilometers were completely destroyed and buildings within 15 kilometers were damaged. Water supply became so contaminated in the area causing people to die instantly after consumption. An hour later, “black rain” began to fall; it is consisted of radioactive substance (Geogr, 2004). People that came in contact with it suffered from long-term health problems (Jarrett H. Folley, 1952). People that survived the explosion shows signs of diarrhea, vomiting and swollen throat. People with no visible injuries also start to feel sick and die, the strange disease was known as “disease X”. Infants that was not born either died or born with severe abnormality and mental retardation. Mother who breast-feeds their children also passed on poison to their children. Many survivors suffer from lung cancer and leukemia. Hiroshima was not the only city got atomic bomb attack. Japanese city Nagasaki also got attacked, and the bomb was called “Fat Man”. Total casualty was approximately 80000 deaths. Those atomic bombs caused severe damage to Japanese society and causing them to surrender. Atomic bombs were not only one of the most deadly weapons in human history, it also causes mass destruction and inhumane, so they are agreed not to use during the war. The atomic bomb caused permanent environment damage to those two Japanese cities. In conclusion, after the Second World War, there were many negative aspects that affect our lives such as baby boomer, unbalanced between light and heavy manufacture, and environmental damage caused by atomic bomb. The Second World War was not a natural disaster, but it was man-made. It could be avoid if we could peacefully solve problems without entering war.

In the reseach , Alisha points out the effects of the Second World War on the global world such as socially, economically, and environmentally. First, the Second World War has great socially effects on people’s previous and current generation. Because of a lot of deaths by the war, countries encouraged families to give births. For example, almost 77 million American was born during that time. Today, baby bommer consist of around 27% of the US population. Second, the war affected society economically like rebuilding cost and the unbalanced between light industry and heavy industry. For example, people focused to produce heavy industry to support for the war such as weapons, airplanes, battleships. Then , the light industry which produced clothes was not focused much. Thirst, the war also destroyed many parts of the world . There were two big atomic bombs at Hiroshima city where was attached by the bomb named ‘’Little Boy’’ and Nagasaki city where was attached by the bomb called ‘’ Fat Man’’ in Japan. Consequence, almost 80,000 deaths, buidings within 2 kilomets was completely destroyed and within 15 km was damaged.
Commentary The paper have clear introduction including clear thesis , and the kind of introduction is interesting facts and statistics. However , the introduction is a little bit short. The first and second paragraphs have good topic sentences, but Alisha missed the thirst’s topic sentence. On the first paragraph , supporting detail supports to the topic sentence as well, but the writer should point out 2 more supporting details. On the second paragraph, topic sentence good and supporting details good , but it will be better if have specific example about rebuilding cost. On the thirst paragraph, you missed the topic sentence, and it also is not the last paragraph , in my opinion it should not begin with the word ‘’ finally’’. However, this paragraph has many specific interesting information that support very well for the paragraph’s topic. Are the paragraphs coherent, the transition words connected the ideas as well . Your paper have good academic vocabularies such as ‘’impact’’, ‘’manufacture’’, ’’socially’’, ‘’economically’’, environmentally . The paper is good structure ,ideas but it is short.
